What to do if you smell gas?

1. Call 0800 111 999 at any time of day or night if you can smell gas or suspect carbon monoxide is present.
2. Turn off the gas at the meter, unless the meter is located in a basement or cellar.
3. Open all windows and doors.
4. Do not turn electrical switches on or off.
5. Extinguish any naked flames and refrain from smoking or striking any matches.
6. Move everyone into fresh air and ensure nobody enters the area of the property or building where you smell gas.
